I created an identity, website and printed comms for this Edinburgh based conflict resolution service, who mediate housing disputes and work across other social welfare areas. Their mission is ‘to change the way social welfare disagreements are resolved, restoring power to those involved in disputes, and helping them find their own ways forward.’
They needed the brand to appeal to two distinct audiences – the first being individuals who find themselves in a personal dispute, and the second are the professional advisers who are involved, such as lawyers, social workers teachers and housing officers. The brand identity required needed to be approachable, professional, impartial and kind. It should not intimidate, but inspire confidence in the service users.
The logo I designed was inspired by communication and impartiality. Two speech bubbles overlap in the central ‘o’ of ‘resolve’ to balance and emphasise the common ground to be found through mediation. The logo appears centred on the website and in stationery to signify this ‘meeting in the middle’ approach.
The client supplied a variety of quotations around the subject of mediation. These formed an ongoing conversation across the printed booklet and website.
